East Lancashire Aikido Club are a small friendly community club whos interest is Aikido; a modern martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba.
The Club was forst formed in October 2002 by Henry Ramsey lead Coach for the Club. Henry Had passed his, Black belt exam in September 2000 having studied with Sensei Kolesnikov since October 1994. Having passed his Aikido Coaching certificate in March 2001 he had been looking for a venue in East Lancashire since moving to live Darwen in Lancashire in 1998. For some time Henry had felt that a Ki Aikido Club was long overdue in East Lancashire. The staff at he Old Blackburn Y.M.C.A. were extreemly helpfull & purchased mats for the Club to start training. Since them they have never looked back.
Since the Club's beginnings they have practiced at the old Blackburn Y.M.C.A., Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, St. Wilfrid's High School and the Sport & Arts Building at Audley Community Schools.
East Lancashire Aikido Club are a "not for profit" voluntary organisation where all funds after costs are plowed back into the club. Our Coaches are volunteers & do not charge for their time, neither do they claim expenses.
